My first sportive (short route) and loved (well nearly) every minute of it!!
The organisation was 2nd to none, really helpful volunteers and the CRC guys in the van.
The scenery was amazing, glad it wasn’t a race as I stopped to take pics!
An old ‘war wound’ was playing up so had to get off the bike a couple of times. The only downside of the day for me was a comment made by the official photographer. He told me he only took photos of cyclists and not people pushing their bikes!! 🙁
Despite that I’ll be back next year!!!

Last year was my first ever Sportive and I cycled the shorter 57km route. Had a wonderful time, weather was generally fine with a few showers. Other cyclist were very encouraging and supportive, good crack was had by all. I thought the event was very well organised from start to finish, route was well sign posted, fruit cake was just like mums and the warm pasta dish at the finish was top dollar. Sorry I didn’t book to attend the dinner and talk on the evening before the cycle, my loss but I will be booking it this year. Everyone involved were so friendly, all in all it was just a wonderful weekend ALREADY BOOKED FOR THIS YEARS EVENT. Looking forward to doing it all again in September 2012, Peter.

    TORRENDOUS… in a good way!!!only just..

Yes sharp downhill 180 degree bends should have had some form of warning if the road service had not already did this, notably at Torr Head
Torr Head was really unnecessary after 100 miles, hopefully the person that planned the route also rode it?
    Enjoyed the cake!
    Enjoyed Phillip Deignan’s talk.
    Weather superb, and what scenery???
Well done on a whole to the organisers as this was there first attempt, can only get better.
A massive thanks to Sean and David of Chainreactioncycles, (Mechanic’s,advisors, agony aunt’s and so on) for the work they put in for all.
    Thank you.
    David.

  5. This is super event, and very well organised that covers a range of cyclists abilities with 3 routes, i did the middle one which i thought was brillant, Torr is tight, but everyone was talking about at the finish so it must stay, i think, i have a few Alps sportives under my belt and this is up there, in terms of challenge, if i could just add one note, a hot drink with the food at the finish would have been nice as it was wet and cold. Thanks for great local event. Gerry

  6. Liam O Brien says:

Very well organised event friendly crew and cyclists. Torr Head was a killer please avoid next year. Some of the steep downhill sections could do with a caution for those of us who did not know the area.
    Well done to all.
